Would staying friends with my first love ruin future relationships?
No it wouldn’t – however if you still have feelings for him, then it might be trouble. But if you are friends with him, and only friends with him, then that’s perfectly fine. Your boyfriend shouldn’t tell you to stop talking to your friends, no matter what history you have – obviously (like I said) unless there might still be a spark between you two, then he does have a right to be slightly worried about his relationship with you. I’ve been friends with all my ex’s (bar one) and they had problems with me staying close friends with the ex before them, but I’ve just had to assure them that the ex is an ex for a reason, and I’ve with them and not my ex.
