Would someone please tell me a summary of the short story “Young Goodman Brown” is?
Okay, so I don’t know if Paranormal Kitty is actually trying to throw you off or if he/she just doesn’t know anything about literature. Young Goodman Brown is an initiation story (meaning the protagonist is introduced to a new life experience) that is very typical of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s general cynicism of the inherent evils and hypocrisies of mankind. The story starts with Young Goodman Brown, a citizen of a small New England town (time period: 17th century during the Salem Witch Trials) leaving his home for an unknown journey just after sunset. He says goodbye to his wife Faith (important to remember her name — it’s symbolic) and embarks on his mysterious trek with a pang of guilt and looming eeriness for leaving his innocent and beautiful wife behind in the dark.
