SODIMM is the architecture type, it just means that’s what your laptop is designed to deal with. Most memory commonly used is unbuffered (short explanation, it doesn’t have a ‘holding area’), non-ECC (error-correcting). When buying, the ad will usually indicate if it is ECC or Buffered. Your laptop will take only DDR, not DDR2 or DDR3. This is the socket and memory type, they are not interchangeable and a DDR3 will not fit into a DDR2 and vice-versa due to differences in the connectors, so you can’t put the ‘wrong’ one in, it won’t fit. DDR is currently available in PC2700 (333Mhz) or PC3200 (400Mhz) formats. Either one will work. Your laptop memory capacity is apparently 2 x 1 GB pieces for 2GB total. In the old days, you couldn’t really mix brands, size, speed, type of memory modules as previous poster said. However, now computers are much more adept at handling the differences, and I mix them on a regular basis. but, putting a 400 in with a 333 will make both pieces run at 333Mhz. A
