Would society benefit if ALL religion was dropped from politics & education, and was only a personal choice?
I think so! That’s why I support Secular Humanism! Our country’s government was established on priciples proposed by Deists, Agnostics and Atheists, and in fact many of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and our first presidents were un-believers in a personal God and expressed that the world would be a better place if religion either occupied only the most minor role in human existance, or ceased to be altogether (certainly a much different reality than the mocked up version of history which I was taught growing up)! It has been pointed out that religion has never defended the freedom of the individual, but rather has always been the lap-dog of the aristocracy and an instrument for human enslavement under tyrranical despots. Look at what is happening to education and government now, under the aegis of the Christian Conservative Right, or in Europe under the quickly growing Muslim population, if you need any more convincing as to why our founding fathers thought it so impo
