Would Seattle be a candidate for an NBA expansion team or franchise relocation?
If the city would build a new arena, Stern would obviously want to hand Seattle an expansion team just as he did with Charlotte a few years ago. Seattle fans may want to look back at that situation because it mirrors this one. An unpopular owner unhappy with the arena (Charlotte Coliseum) moved his team to New Orleans, and the NBA promised Charlotte a new team if it built a state-of-the-art arena. It did, and the Bobcats were formed with owner Bob Johnson. Stern would likely reward the city with a team because of its traditionally strong fan base.
