Putting car air fresheners in your vents would definitely make your home smell good! There are also many products out there designed specifically for use with your air filter. There are fresheners that hang on the filter, sprays you can put right on your existing filter, and you can even rub a little of your favorite essential oils right on there. You can find them just about anywhere air filters are sold. Even my local walmart and target have some. They cost very little for the time they last, usually cost me about 2$ for the ones that attach to the filter and I only change it about 2x a month.
