Would outlawing nuclear power eliminate nuclear weapons?
No. As history has shown, a country that wants to produce nuclear weapons will produce nuclear weapons without any involvement of commercial nuclear power. It is impossible to outlaw science and technology – the science and technology to create nuclear weapons exist and can’t be eliminated by laws any more than the law of gravity could be outlawed by legislation. The only way to ensure that nuclear weapons won’t be manufactured or used is through diplomacy.
