Would onshore wind farm developments go ahead in the north of Scotland without government funding?
Our power lines do not have the capacity to transport additional supplies to England. So not only will our rural landscapes be littered with turbines to create electricity but a “giant power line” is also going to march along our horizons to carry it south. Will more public funding go into that? 3. What are the public benefits supposedly coming to local communities? Our electricity bills are set to rise, our tranquil landscapes and wildlife habitats are being destroyed and neighbours are at loggerheads as developers try to buy out opposition to their proposals. Very few (if any) permanent jobs are to be created locally yet many in the tourism industry are concerned that their livelihoods will be devastated as turbines take over the countryside. It should be mandatory for all wind farm developers to investigate, and mitigate against, the social impacts of their proposal. 4. Who will be responsible for removing the turbines at the end of their 15 -20 year life span? Unless conditions are
