Would Jim Morrison be considered as A Famous Poet enough to?
I think you would be able to write about Jim. If possible, when you are stating which poet you are writing about you may want to have some copies of his work with you or available so you can verify that he has written things besides songs, which seems to be the common thought (although songwriting is a form of poetry). Jim is a very unique poet and I think you could take this assignment in many different directions. For my research paper later this year, I also have to write about a poet and was also considering writing about Jim; my teacher will most likely allow me to write about him also. Some of the best poets are those that have never been discovered or published on a large scale. It all depends on your teacher though; some people are set in their mindset and won’t change regardless of the counter arguments that you present. Hope you get to write about the poet that you want!
