Would it be possible to dye my brunette hair blondish?

You cannot lighten hair at all unless you use the correct bleach. Semi-permanent would have no effect whatsoever and cannot lighten hair. You need permanent dye to do it and you start with a pre-lightener, this strips the natural red from your hair bringing it up to orange, then you bleach it the desired shade of blonde. It is a very chemical two-stage process and only achievable with bleach, which does not wash out, it GROWS out. I you want to return the bleached hair to dark you must again dye the hair red to give the imminent brunette something to “grab”, then you dye it brunette. After all that processing your hair will be utterly frazzled. Don’t do it. EDIT Please ignore Travinn, you cannot lighten brunette hair with semi-permanent colour, it cannot and will not happen. She clearly is clueless as to the processes involved with regards to lifting the natural red first.
