My sister has a pure bread border collie & the breeder said it had to be carried up & down stairs untill it was 6 months old because their hips & elbows arent completely formed yet.Regarding the purchase of a BC unless you have a big yard give them alot of mental stimulation they can be very distructive because they are more working dog than pet but they are very intelligent & loyal companions. I have a golden retriever & as long as he has his walk & swim at the beach every morning he is happy to lie around all day where as the BC goes from sunrise to sunset. Hope this helps Dogs are great!
