Would It be easy for my daughter to own a pet mouse?
Depends on how old she is. I would say 8 and up (with adult supervision) is old enough for a mouse. But beware. Mice have a distinct smell and need their cage cleaned often. As long as she can take the responsibility of cleaning the cage a least once a week & changing food and water everyday I think she’ll be fine. One drawback to having pet mice is that they are not very social with humans naturally. If you interact with them a lot, they may become attached to you and like coming to see you. But from my experience with them, they are jumpy and don’t like to be held for very long, although they will tolerate it. I would suggest a pair of rats if your daughter is up for the responsibility. They take more time, effort, and money than a mouse would, but they make much greater pets. They are easier for children to handle and are very curious and friendly.
