Would it be dangerous to take my mini schnauzer to the dog park?
If your dog is well-socialized he should be fine. In addition, if your dog is excitable then you need to exercise it before you go. You also need to stay calm when you go into a dog park. Dogs don’t kill other dogs in dog parks. Only socialized dogs are allowed in. If there are issues, it’s usually the owner allowing their dog to be over-stimulated, their animal is not altered, their animal is not well-trained. If your dog is timid, this is not an ideal personality to take to a dog park. Timid dogs can become targets and require special attention before they can participate in a free run dog park. If your dog is well-trained and can be taken off leash, find a large field for exercise. Take one of your dog’s friends with you. My dog has play dates all the time with other dogs. We meet up at fenced in ball diamonds plus we live on the outskirts of a rural town. There’s a hayfield at the end of our backyard so there’s lots of room to walk our dog off-leash and there are lots of neighbours
