What I have heard through the (Japanese) media is that they are not really interested in being part of a sinking ship sort of thing. That is just what JK has said about the whole situation. I am sure if it was an attractive enough package for them, (it could work). For their game to go forward they have to be in a competition where their players are exposed week-in, week-out to the level that Super 14 can produce. Q: What about the possible make-up of the side. Would it work if it was a side stacked with non-Japanese players? A: The biggest danger would be that they brought in and paid money for international players to go and play there. It would just be a waste of time if they want to get their players any better. If there were some rules around it and it was the Japanese players playing at that level, then it would be quite a good thing for Japanese rugby.
