I think your internship idea is great. I would also suggest taking an interior design course at American River College or other college. You might also contact local interior design firms, asking for an “informational interview” with the manager or key staffers to get insight into career opportunities. This could be one of the best ways to develop internship opportunities, as well. I’ve been unemployed for more than two years, partially due to recovery from a medical condition. Occasionally I need to sleep an extra hour in the morning to be able to drive and function without feeling drowsy. A job opportunity in my banking/ finance field has 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. hours. When is the best time to approach the employer with this occasional need: at time of hire, prior to hire, after some time on the job?
