This is not normally the case and if you do hire a local Search Engine Optimisation firm then the likely hood is you will not get the best service available. The main problem with limiting yourself to only your own geographical area is you are strictly limiting the skills available to choose from. Do not make the mistake of sacrificing SEO skills just to get an SEO firm a few miles closer to you. You may be lucky and have a really good SEO company just around the corner from you but its not very likely. Search Engine Optimisation is a complex art and you should really cast your net as far as possible to obtain the skills you need.
