Would Giuseppe Arcimboldo count as expressionist?
I believe that Arcimboldo would classify as an “expressionist” to your art teacher…BUT I’m gonna have to toss in my two cents, about your teachers refusal, and you can love it or hate it, its up to you. Your art teacher should not have refused your original choice of Jean Muir. Now, I understand that she’s just sticking to the predefined meaning of “expressionism/expressionists” according to art history fanatics. But, if you feel Jean Muir is an “expressionist”, stick to your guns and argue it. If memory serves me right, Muir was a fashion designer from some time ago. Fashion design is considered an art to most, myself included. What is art, but a form of expression. So, therefore, every artist to ever create anything in the history of time, be it painter/photographer/designer/etc, could technically be classified as an expressionist.
