Would getting married outside the UK be legal when back in the UK?
My brother got married in the Dominican republic, his(now wife) is also from the UK too though. They came back with a legal marriage certificate but not typed in English, but have now got it transferred into an English legal marriage certificate, without having to get married again in the UK. But this was optional, the legal authorities in the UK told them they didn’t need to have it transferred into English, but they chose to do so after about 2 years of being married, prior to that, they was able to use their certificate typed in foreign language for proof of marriage, and those that saw it did their own checks to see if it was valid before they took it as legal. But I doubt it will be plain sailing to bring your new wife into the UK to live as soon as you’re married over there, alot of red tape to go through first. Best you get some legal advice if you want to know for sure,go and see your local citizens advice bureau, they will be able to tell you what’s legal and what’s not(in the UK) as re
