Would evidence of extra-terrestrial life have negative consequences for religion?

I think so. Even though most intelligent people realize that, given a universe of this size, it is highly probable that life has evolved on other planets, the people that wrote the Bible had no clue about either the scope or age of the universe, and so assumed that God specifically created only humans.

@first answer: no it does not. Yes it would be bad for religion(s) because most religious books and prophecies don’t say or doubt the existence of extra-terrestrials. Please show me the passage in the bible that talks about intelligent life outside our planet.
