Would discovery of life on another planet destroy Christianity?
The Bible used to say that the earth was flat, on pillars, the sky was a flat and it had water on top of it. Galileo got in trouble for his discoveries but eventually they cut out that book. Same with the discovery of atoms, John Dalton was bullied into suicide by Christians. Right now they’re slowly admitting evolution is true. Sure it would contradict Christianity but, the Christians will always deny it as long as possible and then change the bible.
The centre ground Christian would probably be as thrilled as the next Atheist to know that we are not alone in the universe and to the wonder of life is abundant throughout time and space. your average extreme, fundamentalist christian would probably want the planet blown from the sky ~ denouncing it as a planet of Satan, where all the life is evil and should be destroyed. That seems to be their reaction to anything new or unknown here on earth.
What happens on another planet in no way negates what took place on this one. God may have other plans for any possible life forms on other planets or in other galaxies, but that doesn’t take one jot away from His plan of salvation for the humans on this planet. Jesus is still Lord. Thanks for playing.
