Would codine & hydrocodone appear as the same thing in a drug test?
Yes and no. The standard Opiod section on a drug test checks for Heroin, codiene, and morphine. Hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic compound, meaning it uses codiene to synthesis the product, but it is no longer codiene. Hydrocodone does break down into very small amounts of, I believe morphine (which i believe breaks down into codiene if I’m not mistaken). What I’m trying to say is that there is a specific test which checks for hydrocodone by itself; but if you take enough hydrocodone, it will show up on the opiod section. The answer to your question really depends on whether or not your company has a specific test for hydrocodone. Also, a person of average build should be able to take 1 Vicoden 10mg a day without busting the hydrocodone panel. You really shouldn’t have to worry about it though, as hydrocodone only stays around another 2-3 days after stoppage of use.
