Would changing a tragus piercings jewelry prevent a bump?

No, changing jewelry early is more dangerous than just leaving it in. The bumps are called hypertropic scarring and are fairly common with cartilage piercings. You need to leave the jewelry you were pierced with in for at LEAST 6 months, 8-12 (i.e. the full healing time) would be the best option though. As for the bumps, some times they go away on their own, there are a few treatments you can try (tea tree oil, chamomile compresses, etc etc) but these are to harsh for a fresh piercing and need to wait until it is fully healed before you can start them. Otherwise, you’re only option to get rid of them would be to remove the jewelry completely. Also, NEVER turn/rotate healing piercings, there’s no need and all it does is tear up and damage the delicate tissues delaying healing.
