Would CAN vs. USA gold medal game draw more viewers in USA than Canadian population?
The US likes a winner and they love an underdog team. If the USA rematches Canada in the gold medal game in their country, people will tune in especially since there’s nothing competing against it on the TV. NBC will draw at least 20 million and could go upwards of 30 if the game is good. Quite frankly whether the US (assuming they are in) plays Canada or Russia or whomever they’ll be the underdog most likely and all the comparisons to 1980 will be spoken of by the ignorant mass media and viewers will watch. No one in America knows a thing about the Nordic cross country team relay but I will say we all stopped to watch when it became obvious that the men’s team was going to make history and win a medal. If the US takes care of business, (thank you easiest draw) viewers will tune in.
