Would banning pro-anorexia sites be an infringement on our freedom of speech?

There must always be a balance between freedom of speech and regulating things which cause serious harm. I’m not sure about banning pro-anorexia sites. For one thing, it’s so difficult to police the internet, and I’m far from convinced that, if someone really wanted to run a pro-anorexia site, they’d be unable to if they were banned. That said, I do agree with the idea that something must be done. Some of these websites do provide genuine, non-judgmental support to people with eating disorders. But many of them are seriously harmful. Eating disorders can lead to death. Anorexia is a long, slow suicide, and if it’s possible to stop vulnerable people from being manipulated further down that path, then I’d like to see action being taken. Whether it infringes freedom of speech or not.

Well its much ado about nothin ………..there are hundreds and thousands of sites out there which should be banned but all they do is open another …the real issue is why and that has to be the responsibility of the Fashion industry ..its them that cause it ……so pick on them and solve the problem at its core

It attempts to cause indirect harm, I don’t think it would conflict with the constitution any more than a ban on pro-suicide sites.
