Would anybody here argue against the need for Congress to approve the $700 billion bailout of financial institutions?
Tamara Copeland: What I wouldn’t argue against is for some response to the situation. I’m not sure that we’ve arrived at the right response. Joseph Suarez: I am already hearing fear in the voices of the nonprofits that I work with day in and day out, because they look at this huge economic crisis that the nation and the globe are facing. There is no clean and simple explanation as to what it is and how big it is and how long will it last. It’s very hard for grass-roots front-line managers or even businesses to look across the horizon and see: What is the impact going to be on my business? Copeland: And what’s the impact at a time when the need is going to be even greater? The need for some of these nonprofits is going to be enormous. They’re going to have to downsize, I think everyone recognizes that. There is going to be less money out there, no matter what happens. There is going to be less money, certainly in 2009, probably in 2010. They can’t turn to government, because government
