Would an N Router wireless increase internet speed with a laptop that has a G wireless card?
No, absolutely not. While your N router will allow far more download speed than your ISP is likely capable of, the G wireless card will limit you to below what an N wireless card will provide. But, if your registry settings, the TCP/IP ones that control wireless download speed are wrong, even an N card in your laptop may do nothing. If you want max speed, install a N card inside or get a plug-in USB N gitchy; they look like a flash drive. Also, before doing anything, so you don’t mess up, backup your registry settings. Get the free TCPOptimizer and run it to max out your speed. If you have any problems with it, the registry file you saved will get you out of it. I was using a G card with an N router and my download speed was about 9 Mb/sec. Now, with an N card, and TCPOptimizer tweak, I max out at 27.68 Mb/ses using speedtest.net !
