What is up with people here? After I got past the mental image of “dead hookers in the trunk” gag I reread this thread. It has been clearly stated, the Audi A3 is a hatch back. A dog should not ride unrestrained in a car, especially in the front seat. A dog should be in a strapped down crate in the cargo area if possible. 1) An unrestrained dog is a potential distraction 2) An unrestrained dog becomes a projectile in the event of a crash. 3) An unrestrained dog can easily injure itself by falling off the seat or getting thrown into the wind sheld even in the event of a sudden stop or fender bender. 4) In the event of a wreck unrestrained dog can easily escape onto the roadway or attack rescuers trying to protect mom or dad. 5) If they are riding in the front seat and getting thrown does not injure or kill the dog, the airbag will. I suggest crating the dogs utilizing strap tie downs or a pet barrier as a minimum. I haven’t really looked at the dimensions of the car but hatchbacks do we
