Would America have as much crime as it does if people weren allowed to have guns?

It seems gun control has little effect on overall crime statistics. The general trend is that in those states that have liberalized the carrying of concealed weapons by civilians, the possibility of the victim being armed acts as a deterrent to violent crime. In Florida, the violent crime rate dropped considerably (and more than in most states since) when they passed their concealed-carry law back about twenty years ago. Philosophically, this makes sense: if not for firearms, the weak are vulnerable to the strong (especially since criminals never seem to have trouble arming themselves). To remove the gun is to remove the means of self-defense. To remove self-defense is to denigrate the worth of human life. If your very life is not worth defending, then why bother with more trivial injuries such as rape or robbery? By the way, people in the US are not “allowed” to have guns. People have the innate right to them, requiring no permission from the government. That’s one of the cornerstones

No there would not be less crime. In states with liberal gun laws crimes rates are very low, in states with strict gun laws crime is very high. Crime will always be a problem because we have persoanl rights. Sometimes the criminals are at an avantage becuaes of these rights and freedoms. Funny, in the US crime has risen, yet gun ownership has decreased. Oh BTW Waylen3, you are wrong Vermont is less restrictive than New Hampshire, No permit is needed for concealed carry, In New Hampshire, it is, but easy to obtain, anyways, neither state is really “Rampart” when it comes to crime, I know because I was a cop in VT and Lived In New Hampshire.
