Would a wire bottom cage hurt my “future” holland lop bunny?

A wire cage is fine. Holland lops are quite small and have lots of padding on their feet. Rabbits that don’t have lots of padding like the rex breeds and rabbits that are heavy like hares, giants etc. should not be kept on wire. You can also put in a block of untreated wood for it to sit on. They also make commercial plastic resting boards. Just check its feet every once in a while to make sure that the fur is not wearing off completely. EDIT*** I have 180 rabbits out iin my barn. Every one of them is in a wire cage. Not a single one has sore hocks and some of them have been in those cages for 8 – 10 years. I use the commercial plastic foot rests. You can pick them up at shows for about $4 a piece or at a feed supply store for about $6 a piece. Indeed some of them do chew on them. However they are very hard plastic and it is difficult for them to destroy them. We replace ours every couple of years. They are also much easier to clean than wood. Wire is not going to hurt your rabbits fee
