Would a weeping willow or birch grow in soft ground?

0

Both willows and birches are fairly adaptable to soil types, and weeping willows will happily sit in soft soil that’s also somewhat waterlogged. Birches are mostly shallow rooted trees, but their roots still ‘anchor’ them into position. In woodland Birches often grow in fairly shallow leaf mould and soil, which is fairly soft and loose. If your ground is reasonably fertile, and these trees would otherwies grow healthily in your area, you will grow some good trees. As with other trees, ensure there is sufficient distance from buildings, as well as important garden beds, lawns etc. Hope this helps. Good luck!
