Would a Urine Test Come Up With STI Results..?
Natasha – The routine urine test for a patient with a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) includes checking for bacteria, pus (white blood cells), a microscopic exam, and several other substances. What you write sounds like you had a positive finding suggestive of the usual UTI due to E. coli bacteria. This is NOT considered a Sexually Transmiotted Infection (STI) and does happen to virgins. However, one STI that could show up under the microscope is that of Trichomonas, a one-celled parasite. Chlamydia is not seen nor sought. Bottom line, you’re being treated with an appropriate antibiotic for an E. coli UTI. Take all the antibiotics prescribed. Be well.
