Would a Portuguese Water Dog and a Yorkie get along well?
Our Yorkie doesn’t really get along with any of our other dogs. She is the boss and doesn’t like dogs at all. She likes people. Portuguese Water Dogs get big, they are very active and my brother’s two get into lots of trouble. They are good for people with allergies as they don’t have regular dog hair, but have more like human hair or poodle hair that doesn’t really shed. I wouldn’t really want to introduce an active large dog like that with a Yorkie unless you are getting a puppy and the Yorkie can take charge right away and tell the Portuguese who’s the boss! You will have to watch very carefully to make sure your Yorkie doesn’t get injured accidentally, and that is a lot of watching. Will someone be home all the time? You can leave small dogs in the house alone for hours without problems, but the Portuguese Water Dogs will get bored and get into trouble unless they are crated.
