The only thing that would cause it to burn is if it over heated. All motherboards have a thermostat onboard that monitors the temperature. If the temperature gets too high, the thermostat will physically power the whole computer off. Assuming the thermostat is working, there is no way to burn up a motherboard.

If the graphic intensive game can be played on the laptop, then the laptop does support the game and playing it won’t burn the motherboard. However, check the laptops air vents. It should be free from dust.
