Would a doberman pinscher and a german shepherd get along?

Both my dogs came from shelters and were somewhat older. Breed doesn’t metter, but gender does. My female (a shepperd/retreiver mix)was somewhere between 5 and 9, my male (german shepperd) was somewhere between 2 and 4. I had my female for 2 years before we got the male. She ignored him for a while and he just wanted to play, he just adores her. I let them work it out between them, there was never any fighting and now they go everywhere together. I did walk and work them together, played no favorites. It will be harder if you have 2 females. Typically the biggest problem comes from the owners. If you are tense and worrysome over it they will feel that and react. All should be fixed.

In all honesty, any dog will get along together as long as you socialize them at an early age and make sure that their personalities don’t conflict. You can not have two super dominant dogs or their will be a lot of trouble. Both those breeds tend to be a bit more dominant then others, so you may want to mix the genders. The doby females I have owned (3) and worked with tend to be loud but really playful. And the German Shepard males I have worked with tend to be more playful (compared to the females) The good thing is that they are both going to need the same amount of exercise and have the same energy level. But make sure you are doing what is right for the dogs. If you see any signs of aggression or super high dominance over one another it might be a good choice to give one away. You can train them out of acting like that but it will take years, there is not quick fixes.
