Would a closet organizer add value to my home?
I used to work for a closet organization company and did many closets for the purpose of resale. It definitely helps sell both new construction and existing homes. TIP: Don’t over-design the closet. Potential buyers may have very different organization needs than yours, so adding expensive drawer banks and lots of shelving/dividers won’t help sell your home any more than a much more simple (and less expensive) design. Ask your closet designer for the following: – 24″ of long hang – 18″ of medium hang – 24″ bank of shelves for sweaters, etc. plus a few shoe shelves – Remaining double hang – Standard white 3/4″ laminate with chrome rods Price your design out with several companies and ask for their best discount AFTER you get the initial quote. Certainly companies in this business are hurting with the economy and are desperate for business too. Best wishes!
