Would a cartoon featuring men made of matchsticks be funny?
Here’s Peter Richardson’s take on what makes a cartoon funny: Way back in 2006, on season ten of Comedy Central’s “South Park,” the show creators made a humorous argument why their show was better comedy than FOX’s “Family Guy.” The general gist of the argument was that the majority of “Family Guy’s” humor is from random non-story related segments. While most people just laughed off the criticism at the time as “South Park” being jealous of “Family Guy’s” success, recent episodes of “Family Guy” have again made me think back to this old argument. I watch episodes from this season “Family Guy” and compare them to this season of “South Park” and the differences are just so obvious.
