Unfortunately, the Solon Schools and our children will suffer if the levy fails. In April of 2010, the district must submit a balanced budget to the state for the 2010-11 school year. The anticipated funds that will be received from the passage of the levy will allow for a balanced budget with the current educational programming levels to be submitted. Without those funds, the budget will have to be reduced by $2.8 million. The administration, Board of Education members and parents have been actively trying to effect legislative change through activities such as: testimony before the Ohio General Assembly, one-on-one lobbying with key decision-makers, letter-writing campaigns, active leadership and involvement in school district and school district-municipal coalitions, and grassroots lobbying. These efforts must continue even if the levy passes to stem the trend toward shifting school funding responsibility away from the state and business and to local communities and individual taxpa
