Perhaps – in the beginning. But Washington Water Service Company will inevitably pass on their cost of acquiring the utility to homeowners, so we would be paying for it one way or another. In addition, Washington Water Service is profit-oriented and can ask for frequent rate increases plus a profit margin of typically 12% each year. A public utility would not.
