they are exactly what you are using them for, hanging them on hangers, mostly because th won’t stay on the hangers becuase they have to wide of a neck or it will fall off the hanger too easily.

The way you’re using the strings is the exact reasons why they are there. I don’t think they are for any thing else.

They are used to keep the item of clothing from coming off the hanger. Once you hang the garment up, take the fabric strings and hook them over the top of the hanger.
