Yes. With the proper conversion connector you can link different size link port units together. With the introduction of the GBC, link port pin 4 now has a new function but the official Nintendo game link cable for connecting two different game units has never supported pin 4 so this change has no immediate impact. Pin 4 might possibly be used by some future Nintendo peripheral but currently it is not used.
