With the fanatical English media, is anyone arrested in a high profile murder stigmatized for life, even if?
Without a doubt – the persons life is ruined – no matter a few days later they are ‘released’ without any charge at all – as has happened far to frequently in the past – and the media just ‘mentioning’ that fact in a passing comment at a later date buried in the no:6 news item of the day. The police seem to have an attitude that ‘someone’ must be arrested/named after a short period of time too prove ‘they’ (the police) are making ‘progress’ with a particular case. The law society should ‘enforce’ the protection of peoples names until that person is ‘proven guilty’ in a court of law – not ‘solely’ of the ‘suspicion’ of committing a crime.!! The police/media reporting of crimes is so out of ‘control’ now adays – they being allowed to ‘blacken’ a persons name at the drop of a hat – and that has/is the ‘norm’ now of reporting any crimes/stories etc by them and its about time ‘their attitude’ was reigned in and stopped. If a person is ‘convicted’ in a court of law – fair enough – but not ‘n
Sidney Sidney Sidney!!! Dig your concern – but as you put in your question, this is an English/British thing which we’ll never get over. The recent ills come in the names of Stagg and Kiszko – with the latter dying soon after being released from his 16 year hell in jail. Can just about remember nastiness of the media when Colin Stagg (oddball, weirdie. etc etc – just look at this – http://www.septicisle.info/2007/11/us-de… – ) had to deal with the media. Guess Stefan Kiszko also got it by the local press – ‘fat, smelly with a foreign name. Guilty!!’ Here’s a question one should put to all in Y!A – what eventually happened to the then teenage girls, who made claims of him ‘exposing’ himself to them months after the 1975 murder – who were praised by the judge in court for their “bravery and honesty” and “sharp observations”. They did say after Kiszko was released that they did it fo
No, they must have some grounds to arrest him, maybe the fact he wasn’t very clear with his story gives them grounds to arrest him and you can’t arrest someone for life, he would have to have a court case and even then there would have to be evidence. Even if someone admits a murder I think they still have to go to court because there some weird people out there who will admit to murders they haven’t even done. Likewise people I’m sure are wrongly accused sometimes but I don’t think this happens very often. I think if the landlord who I’m sure you’re referring to was innocent then this will be found. He’s only arrested on suspicion and then they only have a certain number of hours to question him before they have to realise him, assuming he was innocent.
