The road network utilised to access the site is generally of a high quality. The roads likely to have the highest concentration of garbage trucks (approximately 70 return trips 5 days a week) are Hyland Highway, Firmins Lane, Hazelwood Road, Sanders Road and Mattingley Hill Road. The responsible authority for the maintenance and safety of these roads is VicRoads. This road network was established and upgraded during the construction of the Loy Yang Power Stations and is quite suitable as an over-dimensional (OD) truck route as it is currently designated. As a result it is able to cope with traffic far in excess of the current volumes. The additional traffic volumes as a result of garbage trucks accessing the proposed landfill will be negligible.
