With the change in teachers contract year (August – July), when will a new employees insurance be effective?
The first working day of the month is determined by the State of Georgia work schedules for all state employees. Employees who begin on or before the first working day in August will have insurance effective on September 1st. Employees who begin on or after the first working day will have insurance effective on October 1st. Employees must be at work or on paid leave the first workday of the month in which their insurance is to begin, to be eligible for their health insurance.
