With so few male role models, where do young men learn to be better fathers?
Quite simply, from the men who created the situation allowing a child to be born. If the man who impregnates a woman takes the responsibility for the child, then he already understands his role as a father and consequently as a role model. Now, don’t forget that the woman has a responsibility as well. She needs to observe the man and how he treats his own mother and that will be a certain indication of how he will treat the woman and as such the children. Women need to insist on the use of condoms if they themselves are not ready for children or another child, as women are now more empowered and as such no longer need to be dependent on men by the children trap. So both parties have a responsibility in the creation and the raising of a child. I just want to add that fathers need to be stern. That does not mean that they have to be forbidding but you cannot be lax. You need to set values and reason with the child. Speak in the language that the child would understand. Take for instance;
