With lake levels so low, why should people still consider coming to Lake Powell for vacations this year?
Contrary to popular belief, the lower lake levels actually provide additional recreation opportunities for visitors. First of all, this year there are more visible beaches than ever, providing abundant areas to anchor, hike, picnic and sunbathe. Also, vacationers now have hiking access to canyons that were once only enjoyed from watercraft. Finally, fishing is expected to be better than ever this year due to the emergence of a large population of Shad and new spots for smallmouth bass, stripers and catfish.
