With EVMs replacing ballot boxes, can booth-capturing be prevented?
Technically, booth-capturing means forcibly snatching or damaging ballot boxes. An EVM can also be snatched, but nothing may happen beyond that. An EVM records only five votes per minute. Besides, the polling has to be monitored through a Control Unit operated by the Presiding Officer or polling officer. If the officer is able to press the close button before the EVM is snatched, it will not record any votes.
