With available sources of funding in the market, where do we fit?
Today, outside of friends and family, entrepreneurs to grow their ideas have to rely on banks in order to raise or borrow monies. With banks one needs to go through the rigourous and long haul process of documentation, security collaterals and so on, where most ideas are least understood by such institutions or when understood, for lack of comprehensive documentation such ideas go unnoticed. Next, the problem with most “angels” or venture capital firms is that they look for sizeable and siginificantly large deals. So they know they are playing the lottery when they invest and therefore they tend to invest in companies that have a 10x potential return on investment. Which leaves out the vast majority of small and social businesses that focus on sustainably improving the community or the environment. The goal of Launchpad Ventures is to help these small entrepreneurs driven by ideas and passion for change in sectors such as education, energy, food and environment.
