The owner of any router can view the logs it creates of sites visited and which machine visited. Hacking into your machine is not that easy, particularly if you keep up with the patches and use a firewall. Unfortunately with an open wireless connection anyone in the area can watch your transmissions. Bank transactions normally go through SSL which encrypts the connection. From this point on the transmissions are encrypted and view as garbage. The biggest risk would be for someone within the wireless network to set up a man-in-the-middle attack. They could possibly fool your machine that they were your bank. Always check that the details of the site look right, and the address you show should begin https for a secure link rather than http. It isn’t that easy, just possible.
