This usually occurs when you upgrade from NT 4 or Windows 98. Windows 2000 will sometimes use the old drivers if it feels that they are more compatible. In Order to fix the problem please do the following. Right Click My Computer | Choose Properties | Click the Hardware Tab | Click Device Manager | Click the “+” next to modem | Right Click on LT Winmodem | Click Uninstall | When it asks you if you are sure click Ok | Once it disappears click the “X” on the Device Manager Window | Reboot the Computer and allow Windows 2000 to detect and install the Modem, If it does not install then do the following | Click Start | Choose Settings | Click on Control Panel | Once Control Panel comes up double click on Add/Remove Hardware | When the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard starts click Next | Make sure the dot is next to Add/Troubleshoot a Device | Click Next | Your screen will flash for a minute or two.
