Contrary to what some people say the internet it is actually safe to update your console online via the wii system update menu with the chip installed and ENABLED! At the moment the mod chips are still undetectable via online updates (current revision is 3.4e) – We can’t say that will always be the case for future updates however if the manufacturers found a way to detect the chips they would have done something about it by now.
